About FamilyCam

Our Background

FamilyCam was founded by Wouter Konings, Founder & CTO, and Kaspar Scheltema, Co-Founder & CEO.

Wouter has more than two decades of experience designing and developing professional cameras through his design agency, SLIMDESIGN and PhoneCam. Through this work, he saw that traditional body cameras are often bulky, expensive and complicated to use, making them less accessible to the people who could benefit from them most.

That led to a simple idea: why not use the (software) power of the smartphone people already carry?

Together with Kaspar, which has a strong background in business innovation and serial entrepreneur, we developed a lightweight, easy-to-use wearable camera that combines the camera with the computing power and connectivity of a smartphone. Our goal is to make smart safety, support and recording accessible to everyone. We started with PhoneCam for the professional market and have made the step towards the consumer market with FamilyCam.

The FamilyCam team is based in Amsterdam, The Netherlands.

What is FamilyCam?

FamilyCam is a compact, wearable camera that connects to your smartphone and extends the capabilities of your phone wherever you go.

Together with the FamilyCam app, it allows you to capture your experiences hands-free and gives you instant access to support when you need it. With the press of a button, you can alert people you trust and share live video, audio and your location.

Because FamilyCam works together with your smartphone, it can also enable smart features such as navigation, reading assistance and situation recognition, with more possibilities developing over time.
